Goodbye Miss Howard

Today the staff and children said 'Goodbye' to Miss Howard.  She is leaving Kilsby School to start a new, exciting job in Leamington.  She has worked with us at Kilsby for 11 years during which time she has seen a great deal of change and helped and supported many children along their way.  We wish her every happiness and success in her new job, she will be greatly missed by all the children and staff.

Looking to Holy Week

On Wednesday 29th March the staff and children went to St Faith's Church, Kilsby for the 'Looking to Holy Week' service with Rev Nigel.

Each class had a part in the service, and afterwards everyone was invited back to school for cakes and refreshments.

Tenor Horns in Assembly

Friday 24th March

The children in Maple class have been learning how to play the Tenor Horn.

This morning they played what they had learnt to all the other children and staff in school in assembly.  It sounded very good!  They have learnt a lot in just a few weeks and have really enjoyed it.  Here are some photographs take this morning:

Science Day

On Wednesday 15th March, Cherry Class explored colour chaos!

They looked at which colours were warmest and coldest by timing how long it took an ice cube to melt on different colours.

Then they turned into birds and went hunting for different coloured caterpillars in the grass. The children found that it would be safest on the grass if they were a green caterpillar as it they would be very well camouflaged.

It was a fun day!

Cross Country Event

On Wednesday 15th March some of the children in Key Stage 2 took part in  Cross Country races at Woodford Halse Primary School.  Sam Chambers and Miss T.K. accompanied them at the event. We were very proud of all the children, they represented our school very well, displaying a great deal of  consideration, support and great sportsmanship amongst themselves and other competitors.  Very well done team!

Litter Picking

Today, Friday 10th March all the children in school went out into Kilsby village in organised groups to help the Parish Council litter pick.  They found quite a lot of litter around the village, so Kilsby should now be looking very tidy!  Here are a few photos of them out at work:

Hatching Chicks

This week Cherry class had some 'Living' eggs delivered. By today, Thursday 9th March, 8 out of 10 of them have have now hatched. There is a little hole appearing in another egg so it won't be long before there is another! The children have excitedly been watching the hatching process. Several chicks are now dry enough to go into their new home where there is plenty to eat and drink!  We are now thinking of names for them all!
